Falling Fred live on AppStore!

Things don’t always work as planned. In fact, as experience accumulates plans appear more and more to be nothing but a precise and well defined account for something that just ain’t gonna be so.
When the State Department for Elevator Shaft Safety and Wellbeing (SDESSW, or “Shaft Guys” as we call them) contacted us to create an application concerning public awareness of the hazards posed by open shafts, we thought “we reached the top, baby!”. This was out ticket out of our generic third world country poverty… and maybe we could finally move under a highway, like our wealthy do.

*Sigh* it was such a short lived dream.

It all went down the drain when SDESSW (or “Shaft Guys”) checked our first release. Somehow, our Lead Foreign Relations Bureau misinterpreted the project specifications – instead of an educational application for the safe and responsible operation of elevators, some creative license was taken and the resulting product was (according to their description): “nothing but an excuse for the glorification violence and gore, devoid of the faintest redeeming factor” and “without the least resemblance to the specifications”. A full transcript of their impressions would not be very constructive, and the language they used would probably get my account banned, so let’s just say that they were less than satisfied.

Something had to be done with the rejected app – we had nothing else in line, and almost all chickens bought with the money we made from Psychoban were eaten. So, the original title Safe and Hygienic use of a Modern Open Shaft was changed to Falling Fred and here you have it.

Psychoban HD is closer than ever!

Psychoban HD gets set loose on November

Once we recovered from our month-long release party,
cleared up dozens of vodka and gin bottles, pried smelly pizza slices from fans and ceilings,
we got immediately to work to make our game even better… Actually that was after going to court and pay
a hefty fine for a number of misdemeanors completely unrelated to our celebration activities – not worth mentioning any details here.

Our stellar puzzler gets bigger, sharper and nuttier!
Au contraire of what is accustomed in the industry, we DID pay attention to what gamers had to say
about Psychoban – and boy did that gave us a lot to work on!
A lot of time has been spent on level tuning, tile surface flickering elimination,  assets re exporting and
countless bugs. But of course, prettying the game up a bit was not enough to justify a whole HD port – we needed
to add something else for the LD fans who just didn’t have enough.

New Stuff!

Psychoban HD not only has lots of original new content, but actual new mechanics. The Temple Challenge expansion introduces the
feared CrushCrate, a new type of crate that cannot be piled – lest you want to utterly smash a whole column!
Many comments regarding losing conditions and general difficulty have been addressed. For instance, those who do not
get along with an easy paced gameplay will feel right at home with the new “Timed” mode.
Our pointless postcards reward system was discarded, and a new series of original comic strips has been put in place. The strips illustrate the
characters and setting in a new light, with new situations and lots of comedy.

Improved interface

We felt that characters could use some extra expresiveness, and created custom portrait expressions to further
highlight their mood. Frank Noble is specially proud of Mental Dude’s array of expressions for ignorance, dullness, derangement and confusion.
All the settings, textures and decorations have been revamped and riveted for your pleasure, especially those pesky low-res blood stains!

A better camera

Experience the HD version of Psychoban in perspective (no more isometric view) and enjoy the new top-view camera as another option.

Game Center

Game Center support for iPad with iOS 4.2. Compete with your friends in the timed mode or just relax a enjoy the trip with the classic game mode.

And much more

We are working to Psychoban HD a definitive good option for iPad users, wether they got to know it from LD or just got it for they brand new iPad.
